1 Do Senegalese citizens need a visa for Canada?

Yes, Senegalese citizens require a valid Canada  Visa to enter the country.

The Canada Visa is an official travel document attached to your passport. It demonstrates that you satisfy the standards to enter Canada.

Because Senegal is not a visa-exempt nation, as a citizen, you will require a Visitor Visa to enter Canada, whether you are coming as a student, temporary worker, or simply visiting. You may also require one if you are traveling via a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination.

2 Different Types of Canada Visas for Senegalese Nationals

Turkish citizens need a visa to enter Canada. The type of visa required depends on the purpose of your visit and how long you plan to stay. Here are the most common visa options:

Visiting Canada:

  • Temporary Resident Visa (TRV): This is the standard visa for tourists, those visiting family, or attending short-term events like conferences. It allows you to stay in Canada for up to six months.
  • Super Visa: Designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, this visa allows for extended stays of up to two years at a time.
  • Business Visa: If you're travelling for business purposes, such as meetings or conferences, you'll need this specific type of TRV.

Living and Working in Canada:

  • Study Permit: To study at a Canadian educational institution, you must obtain a study permit. This allows you to stay in Canada for the duration of your program.
  • Work Permit: If you plan to work in Canada, you'll need a work permit. There are different types of work permits depending on the job offer and whether it falls under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) or the International Mobility Program (IMP).
  • Permanent Residency: For those who wish to live and work in Canada permanently, there are several pathways to permanent residency, including Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), and Family Sponsorship.

3 Check Canada visa requirements for Senegalese citizens

Senegal passport holders are NOT ELIGIBLE for eTA.

The Canada eTA is a streamlined entrance requirement for visa-exempt foreign citizens going to Canada by plane. Senegalese citizens, on the other hand, are normally ineligible for eTA because Senegal is not one of Canada's visa-exempt nations. This implies that most Senegalese visitors to Canada must apply for a standard visa, regardless of the reason for their stay.
To visit for tourism purposes, you need the following documents:

  • Original passport with at least six months' validity.
  • A scan of both the first and last pages of your passport is required.
  • A recent passport-sized image (35mm x 45mm) without headwear or border.
  • Cover letter including travel information about you and the other travelers with you.
  • Original personal bank statements for the last six months, updated with a suitable balance.
  • Income tax returns/Form 16 over the past three years.
  • If you are employed, please provide salary stubs for the past six months.
  • NOC from the employer.
  • If you work for yourself, you must pay GST.
  • Marriage certificate if you are married.
  • A letter of invitation from the host based in Canada.
