In the Atlantic region of eastern Canada, you can see small fishing villages and lighthouses, and you can also see icebergs if you visit them at the right time.

And you can see polar bears, aurora, and undiscovered national parks in the northernmost part of Canada, which extends to the Arctic Ocean.

Moroccan nationals can use the Canadian eTA.

Moroccan citizens generally require a visa to enter Canada. However, travelers who have held a Canadian visa in the past 10 years or currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa are eligible to apply for a Canada eTA instead.

Canada has launched the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system as an alternative to traditional visas for eligible travelers. Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) allows Canadian authorities to pre-screen international tourists and makes it easier for Moroccans to enter Canada.

Only air passengers are eligible to apply for the Canada Electronic Travel Authorization.

Read on to learn more about the Canada eTA requirements, application process, and ETA fees for Moroccan citizens.

1. What is a Canada ETA / Evisa for Moroccan citizens?

Morocco is free from Canada's standard visa requirements. Moroccan citizens with full citizenship are eligible to apply for the Canada eTA. You don’t need a Canada Visa for Moroccan citizens

The eTA was first used by Canadian immigration in 2015 to examine the acceptability of foreign visitors to Canada and to expedite the eTA application process.

The Canada ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals, including Moroccan citizens, who are traveling to Canada by air. The ETA allows Moroccan travelers to visit Canada for tourism, business, or transit purposes for stays of up to six months.

The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a document that is electronically connected to the traveler's passport and is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

The Canada eTA for Moroccan citizens is not a work permit and does not provide the applicant with Canadian residency.

Because the eTA details are maintained in the Canadian immigration computer system, passengers must have a machine-readable electronic passport. Moroccan passports are normally machine-readable, although those who are doubtful may contact Moroccan passport officials before applying.

6. FAQ About Traveling from Morocco to Canada

Do I need to print my eTA to enter Canada?

No, the Canadian eTA is electronically linked to your passport, so you don't need to print it. The airline system will automatically verify your eligibility for eTA application via your passport number when you check in for your flight.

However, we recommend keeping your eTA approval email as a printed or digital copy. It is useful when an airline or immigration officer asks for additional confirmation or wants to check details (such as approval date and expiration date).

Tip: Always carry and travel with the same passport you used to apply for eTA, as eTA cannot be transferred to another passport.

What happens to your old passport when you apply for a new one?

If you apply for a new passport, you won't be able to use it for travel, but most of the time you do. In most countries, after issuing a new passport, you can return it with a cancellation stamp or punching on it.

Even if you can't use it for travel now, you'll still need to keep your existing passport. Existing passports include transfer visas, arrival stamps, and travel records, which can be useful for future visa applications.

Tip: If you have a valid visa (such as a Canadian visa or eTA) connected to your existing passport, you will need to have both your existing and new passports when traveling until you receive your new visa.

Can I still travel to Canada while applying for a new passport?

No, you will not be able to travel to Canada while your new passport application is in progress. Your eTA or visa must work with a valid passport, so you will have to wait until you receive your new passport.

If an existing passport has expired or been canceled, the eTA will be automatically invalidated even if the approval period has not ended.

Tip: Wait for your new passport to be issued and reapply for your new eTA using your new passport information before booking your flight. The application process is fast and is usually approved within minutes.

Can I transfer my Canada visa from old passport to new passport?

No, you cannot transfer your Canadian visa or eTA from an existing passport to a new one. All approvals, whether on a visa or an eTA, are linked to a specific passport number.

If you are issued a new passport, your existing visa or eTA will only be valid if you have both an existing passport with a visa/eTA and a new passport for identification during your trip.

However, with eTA, most airlines only check valid passports, so it is safer to reapply with a new passport.

Tip: Always use your new passport information when applying for a visa or eTA in the future, and keep your existing passport safe to prove your previous travel history.
