When was the Canada eTA introduced for Mexican Citizens?

The Canada eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) program for Mexican citizens was introduced on May 1, 2016. Prior to that date, Mexican citizens were required to obtain a visa to travel to Canada.

The implementation of the eTA program for Mexican citizens was part of an effort by the Canadian government to streamline the entry process and enhance security for visa-exempt travelers. The Canada eTA allows Mexican citizens to travel to Canada for tourism, business, or transit purposes without a visa.

The departure date of a Mexican citizen must be within 180 days after arrival. If Mexican citizens wish to stay for an extended period of time, they must apply for the appropriate Visa based on their circumstances. The Canada eTA for Mexican citizens is valid for five years or until your passport expires. Mexican nationals may enter Canada several times within the five-year validity period of the Canada eTA.
