How many days is Canada's public holiday?
There are five nationwide statutory holidays and six additional holidays for federal employees. In addition to the Canada's national holidays each of the 13 provinces and territories observes many holidays, the nature of which varies depending on whether they are statutory, voluntary, or not.
Many governmental and commercial companies, as well as school districts, provide additional days off at the end of December, frequently including at least a full or half-day on December 24 (Christmas Eve) or December 31 (New Year's Eve), or, in some circumstances, the whole week between Christmas and New Year. While not formally regulated, globally recognized cultural holidays like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day, and Father's Day have long been honored by Canadians as part of Canadian culture.
