What are the Canadian ports of entry?
With a Canadian ETA, you can enter any airport in the country. Canada's visa-exempt foreign nationals who plan to travel to the country via air are required to obtain the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). In case these travelers wish to enter Canada via car, bus, train, boat, or on cruise ship, they will need a visitor visa.
Here are some international Canadian international airports that holders of a Canadian ETA may enter:
- Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
- Calgary International Airport (YYC)
- Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
- Ottawa McDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW)
- Edmonton International Airport (CYEG, YEG)
- Victoria International Airport (YYJ)
- St. John's International Airport (YYT)
- Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT)
- Kelowna International Airport (YLW)
The Canadian ETA is electronically linked to the traveler's passport and remains valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. In case of obtaining a new passport, a fresh eTA must be obtained.
A valid eTA allows you to visit Canada as frequently as you wish for short stays of up to six months per visit. It is important to note that possessing an eTA does not guarantee automatic entry into Canada. A border services officer will verify your passport and other required documents upon arrival.
