What can I bring on a plane to Canada?
While you can travel with packaged food, wine, and tobacco products, you must declare them at Canadian customs. If a certain food item is deemed hazardous, it will be confiscated. If you are flying to Canada, also bear in mind liquid rules for your carry-on.
- Food: Dried and packed food (essentially anything packaged or canned from a grocery shop) as well as prepared food.
- Alcohol: 1.5 liters (two 750-milliliter bottles) of wine; 8.5 liters (about 24 cans or bottles) of beer; or 40 ounces (one big standard bottle) of whiskey.
- Pets: To bring your dog or cat to Canada, you must provide a signed, dated certificate from your veterinarian certifying that your pet has been vaccinated against rabies within the past three years. If your dog or cat is under three months old, you do not require a rabies vaccination certificate.
