What to see in Calgary in one day?
Many visitors to Banff and Jasper National Parks transit through Calgary, located in the Canadian Rockies' foothills. However, whether you visit during the balmy summer or the icy winter, the city has lots of activities to offer. Here's how to make the most of 24 hours in Calgary.
Morning
Visit Heritage Park Historical Village, one of Canada's largest living history museums. Just south of downtown Calgary, pre-1915 buildings and staff take tourists back to the Canadian Wild West. Children may particularly appreciate a wagon or steam train journey.
Afternoon
On a culinary tour, you may explore Calgary's communities and learn about what makes Canadian cuisine special. Walk around a market or some of Calgary's most historic locations and try different meals. Travelers with children might want to visit the Calgary Zoo, which is home to over 1,000 animals from more than 100 species.
Night
The Calgary Tower, the city's highest structure and a prominent landmark is a popular nighttime attraction. Get there while it's still daylight to catch a glimpse of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Stay for supper at the spinning Sky 360 restaurant—or simply enjoy the view from the observation deck before heading downtown to eat.
