Do Dutch citizens need a visa for Canada?
No. Travelers from the Netherlands, like the other 58 nations, do not need a visa to visit Canada for a short time. If you are a Dutch national traveling by plane, you must get a Canada ETA for Dutch citizens prior to departure. Canada Immigration Services will assist you in obtaining your electronic permission in as little as 5 hours.
The Canada ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a document that is linked to the traveler's passport electronically and is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
The eTA permits up to 60-day visa-free travel for the following purposes:
- Tourism
- Leisure
- Family visits
- Transit
- Business trips
Dutch residents will require a visa to enter Canada for the following reasons:
- To relocate to Canada.
- Working in Canada.
- Studying in Canada.
- To engage in any other activity not covered by the eTA.
- Staying for more than 60 days at a time.
